Sunday discussions: knowledge, information & learning
On Sunday 21st February we had a discussion group about knowledge, information and learning, in relation to our practice. We discussed how as practitioners we are always in 'reflect mode' almost like an automatic mechanism. This made me think about how I have been taught to reflect as a teacher; always on how successful the lesson was, how well the students engaged and understood, what knowledge they have gained. The reflection undertaken as a teacher is always regarding the students outcome, and never the teachers experience within a lesson. This masters study is designed for us to reflect on us as practitioners and how we are developing and learning. I had a realisation that I revert to autopilot whenever reflection is mentioned in regards to my practice; because that is the thought process I have been taught and was assessed on during teacher training. I found this interesting as an 'aha' moment, and a new thought process is definitely evolving... I am intruiged to develop this new way of reflecting; on myself and my learning, knowledge and practice, to enable my own development as a whole practitioner, to reflect and to inquire.
I am interested if anyone else on the pedagogy route has had any similar thoughts?
