Module One: Our first discussion group
Wednesday we had our first discussion group based around Module One.
It was great to have our first meeting as a cohort, and to hear the thoughts of others on the course. It made the process feel real, and brought module one to life for me.
The focus of the discussion was 'seeing your practice, seeing yourself'. We discussed areas of learning, and how they relate to our individual practice. It was an informative session that explored many different avenues around what practice is, and our identities within our practice. There was discussions around not 'fitting into a box' within our professional practice, and how important it is not to label ourselves with one area i.e. 'performer/teacher/dancer/singer' etc. Our practice is always developing and fluid, and I found it reasurring and eye opening to be invovled in this discussion, as I do feel in the past I have absolutely committed myself to one discipline or one role within my practice.
It was also very thought provoking to talk about areas of learning as modules of 'you' as a person, and things that you want to represent parts of your practice. From this I had some thoughts on differentiation and feedback, and how I frequently use and develop those areas within my daily practice as a practitioner. I would definitely like to explore these as areas of my learning, to reflect on how I use them and how I can further develop their effectiveness.
It felt amazing to be starting this journey with amazing practitioners, supervisors and I feel ready to embark on this masters, knowing each discussion will provoke such thought and reflection.
